Rockstar Reportedly Reminds GTA 6 Actors Their NDAs Last Until Release Day

Rockstar Games has reportedly reminded performers working on GTA 6 that they remain unable to publicly announce their involvement with the game until its November 19 release date.

The information comes directly from GTA VI O'Clock host James Jarvis, who shared what he described as exclusive information about the NDAs surrounding GTA 6's actors during the podcast's latest episode.

According to Jarvis, Rockstar recently sent a message to performers reminding them that they are still bound by their non-disclosure agreements and cannot announce their involvement until release day.

"We would like to remind everyone to please remember your NDA. The date you may announce your involvement is still November 19th."

Jarvis attributed the message to Rockstar while discussing the secrecy surrounding GTA 6's cast alongside fellow host Dan Dawkins.

It's worth stressing that Rockstar has not published the email or made the reported instruction public itself. GTA VI O'Clock is currently the source of the information, and Jarvis does not appear to publicly identify who supplied it. It's therefore unclear whether the podcast obtained the email itself, was shown a copy, or was given its wording by somebody who received it.

In addition, Jarvis also explained what he believes this means regarding future reveals before the games' release.

"But what it does say is that Rockstar themselves aren't going to confirm any of these actors until release day, until November the 19th.

So we're not going to get like a trailer or an announcement saying introducing Jason and Lucia being played by these people. We're not going to get like a magazine piece on the actors and their backgrounds and how they came to work with the project. That might happen post-release. But we're definitely not getting any of that before release day."

Stephen Root breaks Rockstar's silence

The reported reminder follows actor Stephen Root publicly confirming his involvement in GTA 6 earlier this month.

Stephen Root Confirms Brian Heder Role in GTA 6
Stephen Root has confirmed he's part of the Grand Theft Auto 6 cast, likely voicing Brian Heder. He's the first cast member to go on record about his role in Rockstar's upcoming release.

Speaking to the Associated Press at the BAFTA TV Tea Party, Root confirmed that he appears in the game after fans had already recognised his distinctive voice in Rockstar's promotional material. Root did not identify his character by name during the interview, although he is widely believed to portray Brian Heder.

Root's confirmation is particularly unusual because Rockstar has so far declined to officially reveal the actors portraying GTA 6's characters. Despite extensive speculation surrounding the performers behind Jason (Dylan Rourke), Lucia (Manni L Perez) and other characters, Rockstar's official website does not currently provide cast credits.

GTA VI O'Clock's reporting suggests there is a simple explanation for the continued silence: performers have apparently been told they cannot announce their involvement until November 19.

GTA 6 cast could remain secret until launch

If the information reported by GTA VI O'Clock is accurate, it potentially means Rockstar intends to keep much of GTA 6's cast officially under wraps throughout the remainder of the game's pre-release marketing campaign.

The wording is particularly interesting because it doesn't simply tell performers not to reveal details about the game. Instead, it reportedly gives them a specific date on which they may announce their involvement - November 19, the same day GTA 6 launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

That could mean we won't receive official confirmations from the actors believed to portray Jason, Lucia and other major characters until players are already able to play the game, unless Rockstar chooses to reveal the cast itself beforehand.

For now, however, the NDA information should be treated as a report from GTA VI O'Clock rather than an official announcement from Rockstar. Neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two has publicly confirmed the contents of the reported message.
