Vehicles in GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto VI looks set to feature the largest and most diverse selection of vehicles ever seen in a new Rockstar Games title, with hundreds of cars, motorcycles, boats, aircraft and other forms of transport appearing throughout Vice City and the wider state of Leonida.

Almost 300 different vehicles have already been identified from Rockstar's trailers, screenshots and other official GTA 6 footage, and the final number is expected to grow further once the game is released.

As with previous Grand Theft Auto games, the selection combines returning vehicles and manufacturers with completely new models created specifically for GTA 6. Many take inspiration from real-world vehicles commonly found across Florida and the United States.

How Many Vehicles Are In GTA 6?

While Rockstar Games has not announced an official total, GTA Base has currently identified 298 vehicles appearing in official GTA 6 material.

That figure is already considerably higher than the approximately 250 vehicles available when Grand Theft Auto V originally launched in 2013, and there are almost certainly many vehicles which Rockstar has yet to show.

As a result, GTA 6 is expected to launch with at least 300 different vehicles, potentially giving the game the largest vehicle roster of any Grand Theft Auto title at launch.

Cars

Cars naturally make up the largest portion of GTA 6's vehicle selection, ranging from everyday vehicles found on the streets of Vice City to sports cars, supercars and heavily customised rides.

Many familiar GTA manufacturers return, alongside both returning models and completely new vehicles. The selection seen so far covers a wide variety of classes including sports cars, supercars, muscle cars, sedans, coupes, SUVs, vans, off-road vehicles and classics.

The variety should help different areas of Leonida feel distinct. Vice City's busy urban streets are filled with everything from expensive sports cars to taxis and everyday traffic, while rural areas feature pickup trucks, off-road vehicles and machinery better suited to the surrounding environment.

Motorcycles and Bicycles

Motorcycles will once again play a major role in GTA 6, with numerous bikes already appearing throughout Rockstar's promotional material.

These range from high-performance sports bikes to cruisers, dirt bikes and other motorcycles, while bicycles and other smaller forms of transport also return. Rockstar's depiction of Leonida's biker culture suggests motorcycles will be particularly prominent outside central Vice City as well as during races and other activities.

Boats and Watercraft

With GTA 6 taking place in a fictionalised version of Florida, water transportation appears to be considerably more important than it was in GTA V.

Rockstar has shown a wide selection of boats and watercraft travelling around Vice City, the Leonida Keys and the state's extensive coastline and waterways. These include everything from small personal boats and speedboats to larger vessels, police boats, yachts and ferries.

The abundance of islands, beaches, rivers and open ocean surrounding Leonida should make boats a useful way of exploring the world rather than simply an occasional alternative to travelling by road.

Planes and Helicopters

GTA 6 also features numerous aircraft, with both planes and helicopters appearing in official footage and screenshots.

Private jets, commercial aircraft, light planes and helicopters have all been spotted, alongside aircraft intended for emergency services and other specialist roles. Rockstar has also shown aircraft flying over several different parts of Leonida, suggesting players will once again be able to explore the game's world from the air.

Police, Emergency and Service Vehicles

Leonida's vehicle roster extends well beyond vehicles intended primarily for the player. GTA 6 features an extensive selection of police, emergency, commercial, industrial and public-service vehicles designed to populate its world.

Police cruisers, SUVs, helicopters and boats have appeared alongside ambulances, buses, taxis, airport vehicles, construction equipment and other working vehicles. Different law-enforcement vehicles and liveries can also be seen across Leonida, helping individual areas of the state establish their own identity.

Public transportation is another significant part of the world, with buses, taxis, trains and urban transit systems appearing throughout Rockstar's footage.

Returning and New Vehicles

Long-time GTA players will recognise a large number of vehicles returning from GTA V and GTA Online, although many have received substantial visual upgrades for their GTA 6 appearances.

These are joined by dozens of completely new designs, with Rockstar continuing its tradition of combining elements from multiple real-world vehicles when creating its fictional cars.

GTA 6 therefore appears to benefit from the enormous catalogue of vehicles Rockstar developed throughout more than a decade of GTA Online updates while simultaneously introducing a new generation of vehicles designed specifically for Vice City and Leonida.

Vehicle Customisation

Vehicle customisation will once again be a major feature of GTA 6, with modification shops located around Leonida.

Players can expect a mixture of cosmetic and performance upgrades, allowing vehicles to be personalised and improved. Rockstar's footage has already demonstrated a strong car culture throughout Leonida, ranging from highly customised street cars to organised meets and racing scenes.

The level of detail inside vehicles has also increased substantially, with Rockstar putting considerably more work into vehicle interiors and their individual components and animations.

GTA 6's Vehicle Roster Will Continue to Grow

Despite almost 300 vehicles already being identifiable, the current list only represents vehicles which have appeared in material released before GTA 6's launch. Rockstar has no reason to reveal every car, motorcycle, boat or aircraft ahead of release, meaning a substantial number could remain undiscovered.

The final vehicle count therefore won't be known until players are able to fully explore Leonida.
