On June 18th, 2026, Rockstar Games revealed the official GTA 6 cover art and announced that pre-orders would start on June 25th.

Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will officially begin on June 25 on digital storefronts and at other select retailers. Add Grand Theft Auto VI to your wishlist today on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store to get alerted when pre-orders are live.

As of now, there are no details on the different versions or editions of GTA VI, however we can expect news on the standard, premium / special edition and collector's edition to be revealed ahead of the pre-orders opening on June 25th.
'Physical' Version
Rockstar Games confirmed GTA VI would launch as digital-only. While physical copies are available to pre-order and purchase, they won't contain a disc in the box, and instead will simply feature a code which can be redeemed to download the game digitally.

Digital Version
You can purchase the game on PlayStation and XBOX via their digital stores. Doing so will allow you to preload the game a week before launch, ensuring it's downloaded and ready to play the second the official launch hits at midnight on November 19th.

GTA 6's digital-only release brings an end to one of gaming's most iconic traditions: fans queuing outside stores at midnight to be among the very first to play a new Grand Theft Auto title.
This time, even the physical edition contains nothing more than a download code. With boxed copies available to collect a week before launch, a traditional midnight opening would simply see fans lining up to collect an empty box containing a code for a game they still can't play for another week! It's certainly the end of an era.
