Rockstar Games Announce Pre-Order Details, Ultimate Edition and Pricing!
In the biggest GTA 6 update for over a year, Rockstar Games added a major new section to their website while a newswire post and Take-Two press release revealed the pricing and editions for GTA 6.
Just before 11 AM BST (6 AM EDT), our tracking scripts detected a change to Rockstar's GTA 6 website which they official unveiled a few minutes later. Low and behold, a major addition has been made with details of the GTA VI Ultimate Edition, featuring 63 screenshots which show off the various exclusive features players can enjoy by purchasing the premium edition of the game.
Here's our main takeaways from this major info drop:
- The game is DIGITAL ONLY. Even if you buy a physical edition, inside is a code to download the game digitally.
- It's unconfirmed (but possible) that disc-based editions will be released in the future.
- It's very likely this is Rockstar's way of stopping leaks. No one will be able to play the game until it's unlocked at the midnight release, even if they get a physical copy early.
- There are 2 editions:
- Standard Edition: $79.99
- Ultimate Edition: $99.99
- The Ultimate Edition comes with so much additional content, it should be a no-brainer to purchase that over the standard edition for an extra $20.
- GTA VI is a Single Player game, which essentially confirms GTA Online is releasing at some point after launch.
- It now seems more likely that GTA Online will actually be updated a migrated over to GTA VI rather than being a completely separate entity. More details will surely follow in the months ahead.
- If you pre-order digitally, you'll receive a free month of GTA+.
- The game is split into "Chapters" like Red Dead Redemption 2.
- There were some reports or leaks that this was the case, including some which suggested part of the game could be set in the past or in other cities or countries... We'll see!
- Players are able to preload the game a week before launch, from November 12th. Definitely worth doing to ensure it's all downloaded in time for the midnight launch.
- Given the pre-orders went live at midnight local time, we can expect the game to launch in the same way. That means New Zealand will be the first to play it, with it not unlocking for players in Hawaii until 23 hours later!
- It's possible (but unlikely) that Rockstar could schedule a wordwide release so the game unlocks at exactly the same time across all countries, however this essentially means it would become available at some very odd times for certain countries.

Take-Two Press Release
Take-Two Interactive also sent out a press release which explained there are two editions of the game, Standard Edition priced at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition priced at $99.99.
The game will be available to pre-order from midnight tonight (local time), so the lucky people in New Zealand are now able to pre-order the game. In all likelihood, with a midnight release, they'll also be amongst the first to play the game.
Preloading will begin a week ahead of launch on November 12th, and given the large file size, it's definitely something you're going to want to do.
It also seems that the physical releases will include a code inside the box to download the game. We've discussed this before, and it could be a way of Rockstar preventing leaks by restricting who can launch the game even if they receive the box early. The game will presumably unlock at midnight local time on launch day, therefore no one should be able to play early as there are no discs. I do fully expect them to release disc-based editions at some point after release though.
