PlayStation Kicks Off GTA VI Marketing To Advertise PS5 Consoles

Following the Take-Two CEO’s comments about a Sony and Rockstar marketing arrangement during the week, Sony have begun messaging PS4 gamers suggesting they buy a PS5 for GTA VI.

As of Friday, May 8th, 2026, Sony PlayStation began using Grand Theft Auto VI in their marketing as a way to encourage non-upgraders still on PS4 to purchase a PlayStation 5 for November 19's launch.

PlayStation users around the world who have Wishlisted GTA VI but are currently playing on PS4 have received emails and messages in the PlayStation App and console store recommending they buy a PS5 to experience GTA VI in November.

This should provide pretty conclusive evidence that the game is locked in for November 19th as it's unlikely Rockstar would give the go ahead for this marketing without being sure everything was on schedule.

It also hints that the official marketing cycle which was stated to begin in the summer may be about to kick off any day now.
