GTA 6 Pre-Orders Spark 348% Surge in PS5 Pro Demand
GTA 6 is already having a major impact on console demand, with new UK data showing interest in the PS5 Pro surged 348% following the opening of pre-orders, before climbing again after Rockstar's Extended Look.
New consumer data from price comparison service idealo suggests GTA 6 is already encouraging players to upgrade their consoles ahead of its November 19 launch.
According to idealo, demand for the PS5 Pro increased 348% week-on-week on its UK platform following the opening of GTA 6 pre-orders on June 25. Demand for the PS5 Slim also increased by 38%.
Another surge followed Rockstar's GTA 6 Extended Look in August. During the week beginning August 24, searches for GTA 6 increased by 350%, while demand for the PS5 Pro simultaneously jumped 144%.
"GTA 6 is proving to be a massive catalyst for the hardware market specifically."
Idealo senior brand and communications manager Katy Phillips said the company was seeing a clear connection between major GTA 6 announcements and interest in Sony's most powerful console.
"We're seeing a direct correlation between major game reveals and immediate spikes in PS5 Pro interest."
It's important to note that idealo's figures measure demand and pricing activity through its comparison platform rather than confirmed UK console sales. However, other recent market data has also indicated increased console sales following GTA 6's Extended Look, suggesting Rockstar's upcoming release is already having a noticeable effect on the hardware market.
