Take-Two Confirms GTA VI will launch on November 19th, 2026
Ahead of Take-Two's May 21st investor call, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed in multiple interviews that GTA VI is still on course to launch on November 19th.
196 days have passed since Rockstar Games announced GTA VI would be delayed until November 19th, 2026. With not a single word since then, some fans were beginning to worry about a potential delay, however Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has reassured gamers that the game is definitely on track to launch in just under 6 months time, and it's going to make some serious money.
Below are quotes from various articles and interviews where Zelnick confirms that marketing will begin in the "summertime". Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier says pre-orders will open during that marketing period in the summer which is a number of weeks away.
Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive, stated: “Our Fiscal 2026 performance was exceptional and exceeded our initial expectations at every label. We believe Fiscal 2027 will establish new record levels of operating performance driven by the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, along with strong execution across our portfolio. We expect to sustain this higher level of scale, generate strong cash flows, and deliver long-term shareholder value as we release our robust development pipeline, continue to optimize our live services and capitalize on new business opportunities.”
Speaking to IGN ahead of Take-Two’s fiscal year 2026 financial results, CEO Strauss Zelnick insisted GTA 6 was on-track. “I've been saying for some time that the release date is November 19,” he said. “We obviously reiterated that today, so we feel really good about it.”
Reporting its financial results for the 2026 fiscal year, Take-Two, which owns GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games, said it expects a “breakout year” for the company, led by “the most anticipated entertainment property of all time.” Take-Two confirmed Rockstar’s plans to kick off the GTA 6 marketing campaign this summer, as fans await the release of Trailer 3.
“No,” Take-Two Interactive CEO Zelnick told Variety, when asked during an interview Thursday if a “GTA 6” pricing announcement would be coming tied to the company’s earnings release this afternoon. “We never make marketing announcements in our analyst calls. Never ever ever.”
“So the next few weeks I don’t think it’ll be summertime yet, but when it’s summertime, Rockstar expects to start marketing ‘GTA 6.'”
Take-Two earnings: Grand Theft Auto VI is still planned for November 19. No delay. In an interview with Bloomberg today, CEO Strauss Zelnick said he didn't know where this week's Best Buy rumors came from and that pre-orders typically start alongside marketing (which will begin this summer).
