Strauss Zelnick: GTA 6 Ultimate Edition is Most Popular Pre-Order

Early GTA 6 pre-orders are "skewing more to the premium edition", according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.

In an interview with CNBC, Zelnick revealed that more players are currently opting for the $100 Ultimate Edition over the $80 Standard Edition, but suggested that's likely because the earliest pre-orders are coming from the game's biggest fans.

"That might be a reflection of the fact that the most avid consumers are the ones who are pre-ordering now."

It'll be interesting to see whether the Standard Edition begins to catch up over the coming months as more casual gamers place their pre-orders.

Zelnick also explained he doesn't expect Rockstar to discount GTA 6 any time soon, despite its close proximity to Black Friday and the Christmas holiday shopping season. While retailers are free to lower their own prices, any discounts would come out of their own margins rather than being driven by Take-Two.

"We obviously establish our pricing, and storefronts can do what they wish. We don't have any capability to control that. So if they reduce their price, they reduce their margin on the sale."

"There are situations where certain retailers will price down to drive demand for other things they will sell. I can't tell you what will happen. I will tell you we preserved our pricing on Grand Theft Auto V for a very long time, much longer than a standard release of an entertainment property."

Are you one of the "most avid consumers" who pre-ordered the GTAVI Ultimate Edition?
