GTA VI Trailer 2 Captured In-Game on PS5 & Breaks 475 Million Views on Day 1!
Rockstar Games confirm the entire 2nd trailer was recorded in-game on PS5, while The Hollywood Reporter say it received over 475 million views across all platforms on launch day.
Last night, Rockstar Games posted to Social Media to announce that the entirety of GTA VI Trailer 2 was recorded on a base PS5 and featured cutscenes and gameplay footage. Imagine how good it'll look on the PS5 Pro!?
The Biggest Video Launch Of All Time
A new article from The Hollywood Reporter explains Rockstar Games received over 475 million views across all platforms on Trailer 2's launch day.
Unlike the first trailer which was exclusively launched on YouTube and bundled out early following a leak, the second trailer was shadow-dropped across multiple platforms at the same time to everyone's shock and surprise. That, combined with 18 months of silence, makes it no surprise that it received over five times the 93 million views that Trailer 1 got on its first day.
Trailer 1 broke records and became the biggest non-music video launch on YouTube when it was released, however Rockstar Games claim Trailer 2 is the biggest video launch of ALL TIME! The trailer for movies Deadpool & Wolverine hit 365 million views, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps was viewed over 200 million times, but it just goes to show that there's nothing on the planet as big as the Grand Theft Auto hype train.
182,000% Hotter Together
Spotify have explained that the main song in Trailer 2, "Hot Together" by The Pointer Sisters, received an increase in streams by 182,000%. Yes, that's one hundred and eighty two THOUSAND PERCENT! A penny for the thoughts of Heaven 17's Martyn Ware at this unfortunate time.
Sulina Ong, Spotify's global head of editorial said in a statement "Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else. Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it's great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way."
