GTA 6 Pre-Orders Surge 570% Following Netflix Extended Look

GTA 6 pre-orders skyrocketed following Rockstar’s Extended Look on Netflix, with new Sensor Tower data showing sales surged more than 570% above recent daily averages - including a massive 606% increase on PlayStation!

Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI saw a significant increase following the premiere of Rockstar Games' GTA VI: An Extended Look on Netflix, according to new estimates from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower.

The 26-minute Extended Look premiered exclusively on Netflix on August 27, giving fans their most detailed look at GTA 6 so far before becoming available through Rockstar Games' own channels six hours later.

GTA 6 Pre-Orders Increase 436%

According to data calculated by Sensor Tower Senior Insights Analyst Abe Yousef, estimated GTA 6 pre-orders increased by 436% on August 27 compared with the previous day.

The momentum reportedly continued into August 28. Across the two days following the Extended Look, Sensor Tower estimates that GTA 6 pre-orders were 572% higher than the average daily level recorded during the previous 30 days.

It's worth noting that these figures are Sensor Tower estimates rather than official sales numbers provided by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. Sensor Tower says its projections are produced using its proprietary panel and data science models.

PlayStation Sees the Biggest Increase

The new data also shows a substantial difference between PlayStation and Xbox following the presentation.

On August 27, estimated PlayStation 5 pre-orders increased by 606%, compared with an increase of 127% on Xbox Series X|S.

PlayStation had already accounted for the majority of GTA 6 pre-orders tracked by Sensor Tower prior to the presentation. Rockstar also confirmed that the footage shown during An Extended Look was captured on a standard PlayStation 5 console.

More Than 4.5 Million Pre-Orders Before the Extended Look

Prior to the Netflix presentation, Sensor Tower's GTA 6 tracker estimated that the game had already accumulated approximately 4.55 million pre-orders since pre-orders opened in June.

The latest figures therefore suggest Rockstar's largest showcase since pre-orders began resulted in another substantial wave of purchases as the game approaches its November launch.

Take-Two Interactive has not disclosed official GTA 6 pre-order numbers. CEO Strauss Zelnick has, however, previously described demand for the game as exceptional, with earlier reports indicating that pre-orders significantly exceeded the company's expectations.

Netflix Also Benefits From GTA 6

Sensor Tower's data suggests the partnership benefited Netflix as well. Following the Extended Look, the Netflix app reportedly climbed as high as 35th on Apple's App Store, an improvement of 61 positions within 24 hours and considerably higher than its average ranking of 76th during the previous 30 days.

The GTA 6 presentation also reached the top position on Netflix's movie chart as millions of fans tuned in for the first extended showcase of the game.

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
