GTA 6 Leaks May Be From Early in the Game
Following some research into the GTA 6 leaks and CYBERLEEK's additional posts, I think there are a few things we can reasonably conclude so far (may contain minor spoilers).
The leaked gameplay appears to come from very early in the game. Tutorial prompts repeatedly appear when Jason performs certain actions for the first time. Across the clips, he's also wearing the same clothes, carrying basic weaponry and has very little cash - all consistent with footage captured around the same early point in the story.
A "C" icon appears on the radar in multiple clips. Combined with the leaked cutscene featuring Cal, it's possible these clips take place around one of his early missions, with the "C" representing Cal.
If that's correct, it should hopefully allay some fears that the leaker has material or details from much later in the story. It would also make it more likely that Cal's "VPN" quote - which appeared almost suspiciously appropriate for a leak - was simply there by chance, rather than a cutscene deliberately selected from a larger collection of story material.
Of course, we still don't know how much unreleased footage exists.
The various social media and Discord accounts claiming connections to CYBERLEEK appear to have been operated by "promoters" rather than the original source, meaning any supposed quotes from Discord or other channels should be treated with caution.
Perhaps more importantly, CYBERLEEK's own wording suggests the footage may have been obtained from a third party, referring to it as "Stolen GTA6 Footage". If that's accurate, it's possible the person releasing these clips doesn't have direct access to GTAVI at all, but instead acquired a collection of footage recorded by someone else.
While the leaks are still a nightmare for Rockstar - revealing numerous gameplay elements that haven't been officially announced - this could help explain why we've seen no public statement or apparent change of plans.
For now, Rockstar appears to be carrying on as normal, with the official GTA 6 "An Extended Look" still set to premiere on Netflix next week.
