Best Buy Creator Leak: GTA 6 Pre-Orders Coming Monday, May 18th

According to an email sent to Best Buy Creator members, GTA VI is scheduled to launch for pre-orders on Monday, May 18th.

Update

On the morning of May 18th, it became clear that the email from Best Buy was not accurate and pre-orders would not be going live. Take-Two will be relieved that after a minor drop in their stock price, they climbed back up to roughly the same value they'd risen to before the news. Investors will certainly be happy at the clear demand for GTA VI.

Original Article

Early on Thursday, May 14th, images began to appear online from a number of streamers, notably @Frogboyx1Gaming and other content creators who are members of Best Buy's Creator program.

The program works like an affiliate sytem where creators are rewarded with commission for referrals that lead to sales. The email received shows a special offer of 5% compensation for each GTA 6 pre-order generated, which I understand is a higher payout than video games usually offer for the program.

The email also states that this boosted compensation is available between May 18th and May 21st, 2026, thereby confirming the game should be open to pre-orders by this time.

A number of game industry insiders have verified the information and it is believed to be accurate.

Rockstar Games Response

Rockstar Games released their standard Thursday GTA Online newswire post during the day, however they are still yet to confirm any potential pre-order opening date.

Interestingly, today's GTA Online update does seem to cover 2 weeks worth of events, leaving next week somewhat clear...

What Next?

If Rockstar Games do intend to launch pre-orders, it would be fairly standard practice for them to release:

  • A new trailer (which ends with "pre-order now")
  • A newswire article
  • Details of the different game editions, their pricing and any pre-order bonuses

Many fans feel that a major update from Rockstar Games must be due in the next few days if pre-orders are going live on Monday, so we could be just mere hours away from our next batch of GTA VI news as we rapidly approach the final 6 month countdown before the scheduled November 19th release date.
