Leaked GTA VI Details From 2025 May Actually Be Real
Rockstar Games confirmed a developer was fired for leaking information about GTA 6 which was posted to social media... Does that mean these old 'leaks' are true?
In April 2025, during the weeks leading up to GTA VI's second trailer, a social media account called GameRoll posted a cryptic question asking "What do you guys think Jason and Lucia's last names are? My guesses are Lucia Caminos and Jason Duvall".
Obviously there's no way in the world anyone could randomly guess both of those very specific names - which turned out to be the character's exact names - without some form of insider information.
GameRoll also posted other details which they had apparently heard from the same source, however these were mostly dismissed as fan based speculation.
That mindset just changed recently however, as Rockstar Games confirmed that a staff member at Rockstar Lincoln was fired in April 2025 for allegedly "disclosing confidential information about GTA 6 to a third party who published the information to social media".
Possible Leaked Details
This information from @GameRoll_ is in no way confirmed and may turn out to be entirely false. It may also be true and therefore may contain some minor spoilers. Read on at your own risk.
GameRoll explains "Remember, I’m not saying any of this stuff is definitely true since it’s not from a direct source and things can be misinterpreted or hell, made up, I have no way to know other than their past information was reliable."
Gameplay
- GTA's famous 6-star wanted level makes a return.
- The "Relationship" bar mentioned in the 2022 leaked clips still exists in game.
- The relationship mechanism supposedly works similar to honor in RDR2.
- Weight mechanics are a thing - I believe this refers to the ability to make the protagonists gain and lose weight like in GTA San Andreas.
- Underwater areas will be explorable with treasures and secrets to discover.
- The scene in Trailer 2 where Jason buys a beer from the store is captured directly from gameplay.
- You're able to greet or antagonise NPC's.
- The character switch wheel returns and has 3 options:
- Switch to Jason (Solo)
- Switch to Lucia (Solo)
- Dual Protagonist Mode (where Jason and Lucia can be controlled at the same time) allowing them to perform robberies together in the open world. Possibly what was seen in the "Hank's Waffles" leaked development footage.
- Some missions will only be started when you're controlling both Jason and Lucia.
- The radar/mini-map will be rectangular. The GPS will display pink waypoints.
- Jason has an ability similar to Dead Eye from Red Dead Redemption which slows down time and reveals weak spots.
- Lucia also has the Dead Eye ability, but can only fire one shot while using it.
- GameRoll's source claims this mechanic is apparently "super bad" and they hope it gets changed. It's supposed to portray that Jason is a better shot than Lucia due to his time in the army.
- People will react to you walking around with your gun out.
- Male strippers are in the game, in additional to the female ones we've come to know and love.
- Driving is "the best it's ever been" - although admittedly I feel like this is said about every GTA game before release.
- Gore and dismemberment should return to the GTA series and is apparently inspired by RDR2's use of the feature.
- Much like RDR2, a limited weapon inventory system will appear in GTA 6. You won't be able to carry all of your weapons on your person at once, however your additional weapons will be stored in the trunk of your car - similar to storing weapons on your horse in RDR2.
Characters
- The game features a character called Donnie, who is Jason's friend. He also works for Brian and is described as a "freak".
Map
- As we'd expect from a GTA game, the map is once again an island (surrounded by water). I guess using a tall mountain to block your progress like in RDR doesn't work as well when you can fly...
- Despite earlier speculation from the mapping comunity, it will not feature a "panhandle" at the top corner.
- There are numerous enterable shopping malls and skyscrapers with working lifts.
- There are allegedly over 700 shops and the game features the most interiors of a major open world game.
- GameRoll explains he's most skepitcal about this one being true.
Missions / Story
- The game will allegedly feature chapters like RDR2.
- There are 5 chapters in total.
- All of the footage in Trailer 2 was captured from Chapters 1-3.
Cut / Missing Content
- The game will not feature any fully nude sex scenes.
- You won't be able to listen to music while outside a vehicle.
- Although it was seen in leaked development footage, the ability to go prone (and crawl) was "cut a while ago".
- You won't be able to dual-wield weapons.
- Despite being based on Florida, there is to be no Disney World theme park parody.
- There will also be no house burglary mini-game.
Additional details which were posted by other accounts and claim GameRoll also alluded to the following, however I was unable to find where this was originally posted, so take this with even more of a pinch of salt than everything above.
Gameplay
- You won't be able to buy pets in the game, however Jason has an iguana which you can feed - this may be what's in the tank to the left of the below screencap.
- You will still be able to rob stores.
Missions / Story
- The conversation about Jay Norris which can be heard in one of the 2022 leaks has supposedly been cut from the game.
- Chapters 4 and 5 of the game are still unfinished.
- There's a mission where you'll shoot a shark with a speargun.
- There's a mission where Lucia infiltrates a gang of bodybuilders.
- There's a mission where cops betray each other.
- A lot of Chapter 5 has allegedly been cut and reworked - this might explain the most recent delay.
- Lucia supposedly has a child who we'll see towards the beginning of the game, but they don't seem to have a major role in the story.
- Lucia's ankle monitor doesn't affect gameplay and she has it removed early in the game.
Map
- Vice City is the biggest city in the game. Other towns and cities across Leonida won't be as large.
Why is this relevant now?
The reason we're going back and paying attention to this is due to the ongoing legal dispute between Rockstar Games and the 34 recently fired developers who claim they were fired due to "union busting" from Rockstar.
In order to prove this wasn't the case, Rockstar Games were forced to make statements to the judge as part of the hearing where they confirmed that some leaked information has been posted to social media. Whether that was simply the main characters names or everything above remains to be seen.
They rightly explain that any confidential information being leaked can have huge consequences on the business as a whole, potentially affecting Take Two's share price which has the potential to cost the company millions of dollars.
For more details, see IGN's article about the hearing.
“Rockstar categorically denies the claim being heard in today’s hearing,” the Rockstar spokesperson said.
“We have consistently made clear that we took necessary action against a group of individuals across the UK and Canada who discussed highly confidential information, including relating to game features from upcoming and unannounced titles, in an insecure and public social channel. This was a breach of long-standing and well-understood confidentiality policies.
“This channel contained at least 25 non-Rockstar employees, including employees of competitor game developers, a video games industry journalist, as well as dozens of anonymous, unidentifiable members.
“Meanwhile, employees who posted union-supportive messages, but who did not breach confidentiality policies, were not dismissed.
“We regret that these dismissals were necessary; however, confidentiality is fundamental to everything Rockstar Games does. Global interest in our games is unparalleled. Even the smallest leak of any information relating to our products and practices can cause major commercial and creative damage — as we have seen in the past — and damage the experience of our loyal players and dedicated team. This was never about union membership. We have always taken a zero-tolerance approach to unauthorized releases of information — and we always will.”
What do you think about these details if they turn out to be real? Do they make you even more hyped for the game? As things stand, GTA VI is scheduled to release in November THIS YEAR! It shouldn't be long before the full marketing campaign kicks in... Or do you fear another delay?
Stay tuned for more updates as we get them.
